Jeera Rice


Basmati Rice – 2 cups (soaked and drained)
Jeera – 1 Teaspoon
Ghee – 1.5 Tablespoon
Water – 3.5 cups
Salt to taste


  1. Heat ghee in a saucepan.
  2. Add in the jeera and let it splutter.
  3. Add in the drained rice.
  4. Fry for around 5 minutes.
  5. Add in the water and salt.
  6. Bring to a boil. Cover and cook the rice on low flame for round 5 mins. Remove the cover. If you see holes on the surface of the rice, switch off the stove and cover.
  7. Serve with Dal or any other curry of your choice or a simple Curd Raita.
