Coconut Chutney

Ingredients: Grated Coconut – 1 ½ cup
Chilly Powder – ¾  Teaspoon
Mustard Seeds – ½ Teaspoon
Urad Dal – ½ Teaspoon
Dry Red Chilly – 2
Curry Leaves – 5-6
Oil – 1 Tablespoon
Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Grind grated coconut, red chilly powder and salt in a grinder. Keep the paste aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Add in the urad seeds.
  3. Add in the mustard seeds and let it splutter.
  4. Add in the curry leaves.Add in the coconut paste and add enough water to get the right consistency.
  5. Chutney is ready to be served with Idlis, Dosas or Upma.

 

Tips:

    1. You can add green chillies instead of the chilly powder to make a green chutney.
    2. A small piece go ginger added in the grinder, enhances the taste for the those who love the flavour.
