Paris

Paris needs no Introduction or even description. It is the most talked about destination of all times. Most people who have been bit by the travel bug, usually plan a trip to Paris as soon as they can manage to.

More than the monuments and the historical significance of the place, Paris offers another attractive offer of being the “Most Romantic City” in the world. I was taken in by the glamour and glitz of the place and although the need to go Paris has always been there, the opportunity came up only in March 2011.
The idea of having a romantic holiday for two will have to wait. We reached Paris on 25th March 2011 with two kids in tow. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. And an unforgettable one. We managed to land in the most romantic city on the day of our 15th Wedding Anniversary. My daughter refers to the trip as her most unforgettable moment. She even described her trip, along with a presentation , as part of her Trinity Speech Exams. Although, she is my daughter, she hasn’t given me the permission to publish the speech here. But I can tell you that she had noticed all the kissing and proposing on top of the Eiffel Tower!

Here are some of the pictures I took. At that point in time, I only had a point and shoot, almost toy like , waterproof canon camera. So the pictures were mostly of the personal kind. But I did click a few pictures to capture the essence of the place. In my point of view, Paris is a laid back place, where no one is any particular hurry. The serene, quiet and cool weather, made the visit a real break from the normal fast paced life we live.

Getting around Paris can be a little tricky on the first day. But with proper maps and determination, the place becomes travel friendly in no time at all. We had the Paris Pass, which converted the entrance into Louvre, into a miracle event. I almost fainted looking at the long serpentine queue! Paris Pass gets you into a whole lot of other attractions too. In two days , not much can be covered. Two days were kept aside for Disneyland.  There is no way, anyone goes to Paris just once! Just saying. 🙂

  1. How lovely! I’m going to Paris with my daughter at the beginning of April.

Did you feel safe taking photos and travelling around at night? I keep hearing different stories about how safe or not safe Paris is…
