Angry Alphabets

I was to write a poem a day on different emotions. That was what my April 2014 was to be. But in reality,  April turned out to be a very exhausting and exhilarating experience. My first month back as a teacher and “work out of home”  mom was tiring, to say the least. I have gone through a roller coaster of emotions during the month. From supreme happiness to utter disgust to unbearable hurt and pain. Not necessarily in that order and not all at the work place.

My Evernote still has the entries I had created for the A to Z challenge staring at me and calling out to me from my iPad. My unread books are wondering where I had disappeared off to without them. My music hasn’t had a chance to be heard in more than a month. Such injustice had to end. What better way to do that than releasing those poetic emotions into the World Wide Web and then relaxing to admire my footprints on the digital world evolve with every verse I write. With that first step taken, I could pick up on a friendship that had just started with chapter 1 and flip through pages till my eyes can read no more all the while listening to my playlists till my ears can hear no more. Sleep, you will have to wait. Priorities are changing again!

Emotions never go out of fashion. We wear them with pride at times. At times they are the manifestations of a broken heart. Think whatever you may of what these emotions mean. They are just that and nothing more. My sanity isn’t in question anymore, my reality is strikingly similar to dreams these days. On that note, let us begin the A to Z of emotions. Shall we?

 “A is for Anger “

Never mind that I love you,
Never mind that I care,
Your love hurts so much,
That is the truth bare.

The anger within you,
I am not the cause,
I love you enough,
Not to stand back and watch.

You are heading nowhere,
Oh my love,
The anger , the hatred,
Have nothing to gain!

You lose a bit of yourself,
Each time you yell,
You lose a lot more,
A bit of me as well.

A Christmas Gift

If I don’t post this in 2013 itself, it will be a shame. So even though I am on a forced blogging break till the second week the next year, here I am boasting about being a part of a wonderful group of writers and friends and hence becoming a part of our First ever Write Tribe Anthology Book.

Our friend Vidya , who has compiled and edited the book with the help of Vaisakh and Corrine, has brilliantly explained how the book came into being in her post. Please do read it to understand the importance of this book in our lives.

I hope you do take the time out to download and read The Write Tribe Anthology Book 1. It is a compilation of the bestest posts from the blogs of us 36 write tribers. I hope you enjoy reading it. If you do, then please do share it too. 😀

Time to read

Time to read

The question for the day is :

What do you wish you had more time to do each day?

I wish I had more time in a day simply because I spend half of my days with a headache. I need that time to complete the four/five books that I am reading simultaneously at this point!

When I think of all the time I have wasted sleeping because of my headaches, I feel like crying. Such precious time that I could use to clean the home, cook better food, blog better, comment better, reply better, read better or simple live happily just wasted away in the dreamworld. The worst part is that the dreams during these headaches are not peaceful either. They are packed with so much action that I wake up feeling more exhausted than I was before I fell asleep.

Such days are a total ruin for me when they begin this way. I just drag along. November was relatively a good month in terms of this. Except for the last week, when I was down again. Yesterday too, I was down with a headache and ear pain. I was thinking of quitting the NaBloPoMo December challenge because of this. But now I decided against it.

I am addicted to blogging and I am seriously loving it. Not going to let a measly headache take it away from me.  I need more headache free time. That is what I need. Just two hours in a hopeless day is enough for me to catch up with blogging and reading books. I seriously need these to survive now.

What do you want more time for? I hate headache free people by the way. :p

The Liebster Award

The Liebster Blog Award: Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely.Started in Germany(probably) & is used to highlight new/recent/lesser known blogs or let say blogs with less than 200 followers.

This is how it works
To accept the award, you must complete the following:
»   Link back to the persons blog that have nominated you
»   Nominate 10 more bloggers whom you feel are deserving of more subscribers & you pass the award on to them.
»   Answer all questions posted by the nominator
»   Create 10 questions for the nominees
»   Contact the nominees and let them know that they have been nominated for the Liebster
  • I have been nominated in the past but I rarely took the tag from them. The reason was that I never had enough people to tag and award on my list. This time around, I do. To all those others who have awarded me in the past and I have not been able to accept it, this is for you too even though I have picked my award from a warm and loving mother, blogger and friend Kathy. And yesterday at around midnight, the talented Sugandha tagged me too. 🙂 I have added her questions and their answers just now.
  • Here I nominate 10 bloggers who I read on a regular basis and a few I just recently discovered , who manage to make my blogging experience as wonderful as it is now.

1. Why do you write?
Simply because I love to write. 🙂

2. You are stranded in the middle of nowhere…who is with you and why?
I would love to be stranded with my first ever crush. I always wonder what happened to him.  😉

3. If you could be dropped inside the pages of a book and become a character of the story…which book would you choose and why?
I would love to be Miss Marple. I am sure at that age I will have lots of time to solve mysteries if I am alive and kicking.

4. If you could be any animal, which one would you be?
A bird . A parrot. I could fly. I would be colourful. I need to talk only if I really want to.

5. The waiter is at your table taking your drink order. What do you order?
I would order a fresh Orange juice or maybe a Fanta.

6. If you could invent a machine to do a task you hate for you, what would you invent?
I would invent a machine that I used to adore as a kid while watching Jetsons. The press of a button should get me scrambled eggs or pancakes or steak on the table. I hate cooking! The same machine should clear the table and dishes as well! 😀

7. Would you rather have magical powers or money?
Magical powers. Then I can get anything I want. Even those that money can’t buy. 😦

8. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I would love to live in London. That is the only place that felt like home when I went visiting there. I have no idea why!

9. If you could go anywhere, where would you go?
I would go on a month long tour of the US of A. I have heard so much about it. Haven’t had the opportunity of even visiting it once as yet.

10. If you could have anything you wanted for Christmas, what would it be and why?
I would like to wake up to snow everywhere. Spend the entire week leading upto new years enjoying the snow fall and good company to stay indoors or maybe make a few snowmen and have a snow fight. Yes, I would like to celebrate a white Christmas at least once in my life.

  • Answer to Sugandha’s Questions:

1. One place you recommend to visit.
Istanbul – the place has a mixture Arab and European lifestyle and its history is intriguing indeed.

2. Your favorite activity apart from blog and books.
I watch movies regularly much more than I blog or read. 😀

3. Fiction or non-fiction read.

4. Beach or hills, better holiday destination?
Hills. I am not too fond of swim wear. 😀

5. Your reaction to someone who hates blogging.
Ignorance is Bliss!

I used to post my page and post links frequently on my FB wall. That was mean indeed. Now I let bloglovin do it. 😀

Both my sisters live close by. I would call my eldest first and then my second eldest if the first one is unreachable.

8. Favorite music genre.
Romantic, slow, soothing…. You get the drift…mushy stuff.

9. Music versus books, pick either.
Books these days. Music brings about a lot of memories.

10. Going out or stay indoors, what’s your idea of a perfect evening?

  • Going to inform the nominees as soon as I post this. 🙂

And I thus have officially accepted the award. Thank you Kathy and Sugandha. 🙂

Of Bloggers and Free Expression

Written for Write Tribe’s Free to Create . And the prompt is :

What does freedom of expression mean to me as a blogger/ writer?

zipped_lips_by_ajoyant-d47rbc5Pic Coutesy :

How does one come into the blogging world? According to me there are four ways this happens.

1. You see a friend or acquaintance create and maintain a blog and have online friends. You are tempted to follow suit.

2. You have this urge to read and write. You read so much that you feel the need to write your views on everything and anything you see. You go searching for an outlet for your talent and you come across blogging.

3. You have a product or service that you want to advertise. Rather than have a static page with just the product details, you prefer to blog about related articles and in the process gain followers and maybe some clients too.

4. You think that what you have to say can bring about a change in the political scene of our country. An open platform to lash out at anyone and anything the blogger feels the need to. Some use Satire to accomplish this.

There is no problem with the first three when you think in terms of Freedom of Expression. You are promoting yourself, your thoughts or your products.

But in the fourth one, what you are actually doing is pointing fingers at people in power and making a mockery of the system. I smile when I read such posts as I agree with what most have to say. Some go about it in a mild way, they speak their mind with ample data to support their claim. They are social workers who are promoting a cause. Some just yap their way into topics that doesn’t concern them in anyway. I have seen and read quite a few of these. Some make you think in a positive way, some produce negativity. Some make us indulge in false dreams of a bright future. Some push through a dark image on everything and anything good or bad, just for the heck of it. Or in short. They do it, just because they can. Some gain so much popularity that they get paid to write Satire. Maybe about movies, books or politics. Ultimately the blogger becomes a brand. And that brand can promote news however he/she deems fit.

There is nothing wrong with this process. More people get to speak their minds than just the selected(elected) few. It gives us access to all sides of the same story. It gives power to the common man. But it also leads to a confused country. Who to believe and who not to believe. Journalists with certain amount of credibility are also not full proof in reporting news. Because there are rules set in to curb their freedom of speech too. Rightly so in most cases. For instance when they were showing live coverage of the terrorist attacks on international TV for even the enemies to watch and learn.

NEWS is important. It is important to report events in their totality. What is unnecessary are the personal opinions , recommendations and the unnecessary innuendos from the common man. There are closed chambers and appointed people to run a government and a country. The option to choose the right people to do their work in these closed chambers is the responsibility of the common man. If they fall for the false identities that they ultimately vote for, then why blame the elected few? Our country has only two kinds of powerful people. They either belong to the ruling party or the opposition. And the war to get back into power continues while the nation’s progress takes a back seat.

Coming back to blogging, even this topic that I am writing on , is also my personal opinion on the topic. Some may agree, some may disagree on a few points. Some will utilize their freedom of expression to throw brickbats or shower compliments on my post. I might take them all in with a pinch of salt. Or maybe I will go after each of the brickbats with my artillery of blogging friends to get my point across to the brickbat holder. Or I would just sit back and enjoy the war that my post has fueled up. No, I am not saying that I am a powerful writer and all this is going to happen to my post. I am just saying that these can happen to any post, anytime. It gets turned into a source of amusement. And that is what I think is the condition of “Freedom of Expression” in this blogging world today.

Happy Independence Day my fellow Indians. Imagine if we were still under the British rule. Imagine how life would be then. We gained freedom from the British and formed our country on this day. So lets celebrate at least that much, today. Let’s celebrate the people who made it happen.
